If you’re at the beach and a wave is coming, you have 3 options.
Option 1 - Run away. If you choose this, you will get smashed.

Option 2 - Stand there. If you choose this, you will get smashed.
This is like freezing in your emotions or trying to ignore them (or push them away with things like food, pornography, etc.)
Option 3 - Jump into the wave.
While counterintuitive, this option lets you avoid injury. It allows you to feel a gentle up and down movement that passes quickly.
